Karen
has over 20 years of corporate management, computer systems/graphic design experience
and a lifelong interest in the fine arts of painting and photography. She helped
found K&P Interiors, LLC because the business allows her to use "both
sides of her brain": to be artistically creative while still using her business
knowledge. A Masters
of Business Administration degree from the University of Houston and oil painting
classes at the Glassell School of Art provide the academic foundation for her
success. She has also studied faux finishing, stenciling, and furniture finishing
at the Kelly S. King Institute of Decorative Finishes in Omaha, Nebraska and The
Faux Effects Decorative Finishing Studio in Vero Beach, Florida. |
Karen's
specialties include the design and layout of historically correct molded architectural
ornament, and she has learned the difficult old-world technique of hand-laying
composition ornament to replicate intricate carving. Karen handles much of the
day-to-day business operations of the company, including estimates, design consultations,
personnel scheduling/logistics, purchasing and financial operations. She paints
whenever she can.
Originally
from the Midwest, Karen has called Houston home for the past 20
years, although a penchant for world travel has taken her to many
corners of the globe. She speaks German, is an avid reader, likes
playing with computers, live music, dancing, and tasting fine
wines, beers, and food.
